Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons fat (e.g., margarine or butter)
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup sour milk
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger

Steps

  1. Mix the soda and molasses in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and combine well.
  3. Bake in muffin pans for 20 minutes or in a loaf pan for 40 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire cake rack.

Tips

  • If using the muffin option, cake cases are a good option.
