Ingredients

To make wentelteefjes for 4 persons:
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of milk (about 400 ml)
  • cinnamon powder
  • (powdered) sugar

Steps

  1. Put the milk, the eggs and a pinch of cinnamon in a large bowl.
  2. Use a fork to blend the ingredients. Do this for about 1 minute, until the mixture is flat and light yellow.
  3. Put a frying pan with some butter in it on a cooker. Make sure it gets hot, but not too hot.
  4. Take a slice of bread and take it a few times through the egg mixture until it is completely covered with the mixture. The slice of bread has to be intirely wet (on both sides!).
  5. Put the slice of bread in the frying pan. Turn in around frequently until it is light brown and crusty on the outside.
  6. Do the same thing to the other 3 slices of bread.
  7. When all of the slices of bread are baked, you can put some (powdered) sugar on top of them. You may also want to add some extra cinnamon.

Tips

  • Make sure the bread is very wet when you put it in the pan.
  • You can also put butter, jam, fresh fruit or syrup on top of the wentelteefjes. Be creative and surprise yourself!
  • When you put powdered sugar or butter on a wentelteefje it melts a bit. That's delicious!
