Making your own toasted garlic and herb bread crumbs is easier than you think, and all you need is a toaster, an oven, a food processor, and just a few ingredients. Homemade breadcrumbs are great in the sense that they are healthier in terms all natural ingredients, no high fructose sugars, and they are lower in calories as well.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices 100% natural whole wheat bread
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon basil
  • 1 tablespoon of parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon and herb seasoning
  • pinch of oregano
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps

  1. Put in a toaster 4 pieces of 100 percent natural whole wheat bread and toast until lightly brown.
  2. Tear the bread up in small pieces and place in a food processor.
  3. Chop up 1 clove of garlic till minced, and scatter in with bread pieces.
  4. Sprinkle 1 table spoon of basil, 1 tablespoon of parsley, a small pinch of oregano, 1 teaspoon of lemon and herb seasoning and a pinch of salt in bread crumbs.
  5. While the food processor is running, slowly drizzle two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil down the drop shoot of the food processor, and run until crumbs are in tiny pieces.
  6. Place in oven in a baking dish, and bake at 350 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes or until crumbs are lightly brown and dry.
  7. Let cool in baking dish, then use in your recipe.
