Ingredients

  • 1 package of active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F, 43 degrees C)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk (110 degrees F, 43 degrees C)
  • 2/3 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Steps

Bread Starter Recipe
  1. Pour the warm water into a bowl. Add the active dry yeast into the bowl and let the yeast dissolve for about 10 minutes. Stir the mixture well.
  2. Get a plastic or glass container and mix the flour and sugar together.
  3. Add the milk and yeast mixture to the container slowly while stirring everything together.
  4. Wrap the container with plastic wrap.
  5. Mark this mixture as "Day 1". Follow the calendar for each day's instructions.
Calendar Recipe
  • Day 1: Receive or make the starter.
  • Day 2: Stir.
  • Day 3: Stir.
  • Day 4: Stir.
  • Day 5: Add a cup of milk, flour, and sugar to the mixture.
  • Day 6: Stir.
  • Day 7: Stir.
  • Day 8: Stir.
  • Day 9: Stir.
  • Day 10: Add a cup of milk, flour, and sugar to the mixture. Divide this mixture into 4 parts. Keep one section to yourself and give the other sections to your friends or family members, along with the bread calendar and bread recipe.
Bread Recipe
  1. Get a bowl and combine the baking powder, baking soda, oil, salt, eggs, sugar, flour, vanilla, and cinnamon with a fork. Mix this until it's well combined and blended together.
  2. Add your section of the 10-day mixture into this. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Use butter to grease two loaf pans. Instead of flouring the bottom of the pans, use sugar.
  4. Pour the mixture into the pans evenly. Bake at 325 degrees F (163 degrees C or gas mark 3) for about 45 to 60 minutes.
  5. Leave it to cool for 10 minutes before removing the loaves from the pans.

Tips

  • A great way to give the mixture/batter out is to put them in freezer bags. Instead of "stir" on the calendar, they can just "mush" (massage or rub the mixture).
  • This bread can be stored in the freezer after its baked.
  • Make sure the people (who you're giving the sections to) knows that when they receive it from you, it becomes as "Day 1" for them.
